Covid-19 guidelines for students and parents – Effective from 10/05/2021

  • If student has been off school due to illness or is currently feeling unwell, do not attend the school. Online lessons are available for such instances. Please ensure you contact the tutor beforehand.

  • If anyone in your household has, or is suspected of having, or is being tested for Covid-19, then you MUST NOT ATTEND THE SCHOOL. It is essential that we are contacted immediately to inform us, so we can ascertain the risks,  as per HSE guidelines. (Online lessons are available whilst you quarantine)

  • If you, or anyone within your household is quarantining (or should be) for instance, as a result of foreign travel outside of green zoned countries, then you must not attend lessons during this period. We are happy to do the lesson online, until your quarantine period has expired.

  • In order to minimise potential contamination points, we are asking parents make sure students have been to the toilet before coming to the school. Where at all possible, we do not want students using the toilets at all. If a student does have to use the toilet, then the tutor will have to walk them to the toilets, and wait outside to ensure students wash hands, and sanitise them. The tutor will then have to sanitise all areas where the student has been.

  • Parents and/or students are to wait outside in their cars and not use their access cards to enter the building. At the designated lesson time, the tutor will come to the car and will ask some questions to comply with current HSE guidelines which all helps to prevent the transmission and spread of Covid-19. If the tutor is happy with the answers, they will then take the student’s temperature with a non-contact thermometer. Upon a successful reading, the tutor will advise the student how to proceed to their lesson safely.

  • All students must wear a well-fitting, clean mask at all times whilst at the school. This is mandatory.

  • Only one student (unless from the same family unit, living in the same house) will be permitted into our studios at one time. Only 2 tutors will be allowed to teach in the entire school at any one time, and start times will be staggered by 15 minutes to avoid tutors and students crossing paths from different classes. I.e. one tutors lessons will start on the hour and half hour, whilst the other’s will start at 15 minutes past the hour, and 15 minutes to the hour. There will be no waiting area, so students and parents must wait outside until brought in.

  • Upon entering the building, the tutor will ask the student to sanitise their hands with the provided dispensers and then proceed to the class room observing the instructions given by the tutors.

  • Please ensure that all instruments are tuned before attending lessons, as we will not be able to touch a student’s instrument to tune them to comply with current regulations.

  • Students must bring all relevant books and a notepad and pen/pencil for lesson notes/homework. We will not be able to photocopy any music this term if a student has forgotten their music due to current restrictions.

  • At the end of the lesson, tutors will ask the student to take out their notebook, and write down any lesson notes and/or homework. Before leaving the room, the tutor will sanitise the area where the student was working.

  • Online lessons are available, and are a great way of attending a lesson if not feeling 100% well, without putting anyone else at risk.

  • Tutors and students are expected to keep a minimum distance of 2 meters at all times. All tutors have been advised, they must wear a clean, well fitted mask, and a face guard/visor at all times whilst in the school.

  • Parents who wish to observe a lesson (as a practice aid or any other reason) will be given the opportunity to do so virtually to keep the risk of cross contamination/infection to a minimum.

  • In the event of another lockdown, we may need to move to online lessons again for as long as the lockdown is in force. This will depend on the government policy at the time, and we will follow whatever their recommendation is.
